First Vague Teaser Trailer for Sci-Fi Sequel 'Monsters: Dark Continent'

Monsters: Dark Continent

After directing the stellar indie Monsters, filmmaker Gareth Edwards moved on to blockbuster monsters with his forthcoming new take on Godzilla. But Vertigo Films is keeping the universe alive with Monsters: Dark Continent. This time Edwards is only executive producing with Tom Green (no, not that one) making his directorial debut with the story of a soldier who has to go into another infected zone in the Middle East to fine his lost comrade. Now the first teaser trailer is here, and it doesn't show much, but we do see a glimpse of some dead monsters being hauled away as soldiers arrive, looking a bit timid. Watch?

Teaser trailer for Tom Green's Monsters: Dark Continent, originally from Empire (watch in HD here):

Monsters: Dark Continent is the sequel to Gareth Edwards' Monsters. Tom Green ("Misfits") makes his feature directorial debut with a script from Jay Basu. Johnny Harris (Welcome To The Punch), Sam Keeley (What Richard Did) and Joe Dempsie ("Game Of Thrones") star in the film which moves the action to  another Infected Zone, a U.S. military-dominated Middle East, where a soldier is looking for his lost comrade. Vertigo Films has slated the sequel for release in the United Kingdom sometime in 2014, but there's no indication of when it might make it way to the United States. Stay tuned for anymore updates.

Without Gareth at the helm I don't have high hopes but this wasn't a bad teaser

i totally forgot this was coming. if ever a film did not need a sequel, it's this. i am a huge fan of the first - i know not everyone is, but i loved the very human story, set in a brief moment in time in a wider sci-fi environment. but the sequel is here now, and suddenly there's *another* infected zone? the contemporary parallels with the first film's central metaphor seem obvious, especially if we're suddenly in a 'U.S. military-dominated Middle East.' they'll have to do a bit more to convince me they can catch the lightning in the bottle again. colour me not yet convinced.
