Terminator Genisys Trailer

"We are humanity's last hope." After teasing the trailer with the hashtag #TerminatorUnlock, the full trailer has finally been revealed and it's a bit different than the first one. Paramount has unveiled another official trailer for Terminator Genisys, the latest creation in the Terminator series spearheaded by Skydance Productions, with Thor: The Dark World / "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor at the helm. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, but the film mainly stars Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, J.K. Simmons and Byung-hun Lee as the badass T-1000. Whoa, Jason Clarke is a bot too? Apparently "more" than just man or machine. I'm definitely interested in this, but still not yet sure if it's going to be any good.

Here's the newest official trailer for Terminator Genisys, direct from Paramount's YouTube:

Terminator Genisys

You can still watch the first full trailer for Terminator: Genisys right here for comparison.

Terminator: Genisys is directed by Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones," Thor: The Dark World) and written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Byung-hun Lee and Matt Smith all star in the film that takes a completely different approach to the Terminator timeline, finding Sarah Connor orphaned and being raised and trained by an aging T-800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) as Kyle Reese (Courtney) is sent back in time from the future again on a new mission. Paramount Pictures & Skydance release the film this summer July 1st.

Whoa, that's a huge curveball I would have liked to have seen in the theatre!

rickvanr on Apr 13, 2015

2

Apparently, this is not the only curve ball in this movie.. another one got leaked online and can be found with a quick search

Tester on Apr 13, 2015

3

Well, I won't be doing that!

4

Open minded about this. Let's see if they can grab my attention. Good trailer.

5

Much better trailer than the last one, I'm in.

6

They've really got to stop making Terminator movies.

7

ARNIE GOT THEM JOKES.

Nielsen700 on Apr 13, 2015

8

Yeah he does. But it seems like he's been reduced to comic relief, as opposed to the original Terminator, which was really dark.

TheOct8pus on Apr 13, 2015

9

Wouldn't say I'm suprised, though. After the third film.

10

better than the last one and i lttle T2 vibe in it! sold for now!

ari smulders on Apr 13, 2015

11

Enough with the Terminator....especially with Arnie. I love the guy, but as an actor he should know when he's too old to play the same role again.... I'm lookin' at you too, Stallone.

I really want this to be good. My worry is just how much "stuff" there was in that trailer, that I worry they're trying to cover too much ground. My problem is, I enjoy the universe, but T3 was awful, and Salvation was middling at best (and fits into the overall canon in a weird space, to me). I kinda feel like we're getting into "reboot" territory, as much as I hate that. But I think the current universe can't continue without Arnold, and you can only ride that "the living tissue ages" train so far (even though I'll let them get away with it if it plays right). What they need to do is find some new unknown Arnold-like guy and rebuild around him. Get us a new big, meathead action actor. Make it dark and gritty. T3 was too bright, and poked too much fun at itself. T2 was such a good balance of the funny moments without compromising the intensity of the film or feeling like it was mocking. They're treading dangerously close to unraveling everything though with all the time travel paradox stuff. I think that's actually the key to a good reboot. Use that as an excuse to key off of the original ending to T2. Throw out T3, and create a new timeline with a new universe. Basically make that the lynchpin point in the timeline. Judgement Day never happens, Kyle Reese never goes back in time, John Connor is never born, and a whole new process takes place that leads to the same inevitable conclusion (Matrix-esque replaying of the same process to a similar ending over and over).

Hate Emilia, but I like the Terminator effects, including young Arnold. Still not seeing it.

OfficialJab on Apr 13, 2015

14

Emilia Clarke looks so young for the part of Sarah. Maybe it's just the way the trailer frames her, but she looks like a child, not a combat trained mom to the salvation of humanity.

Michael Fienen on Apr 13, 2015

15

No, she definitely has a serious case of baby face. She is also on the shorter side. Those things together make her come off as years younger than she is. Admittedly, that made some of her scenes on Game of Thrones slightly uncomfortable to watch.

Chris Groves on Apr 15, 2015

16

...huh?

Xerxexx on Apr 13, 2015

17

Ok... now you slightly have my attention. I like the twisted idea of having John Conner being a new type of Terminator. However, I'm not completely sold on this movie, just yet... I'm going to have other people see this film first, just so they can tell me how awful or good it really is.

DarthVerous on Apr 13, 2015

18

Now im not feeling it, I dont like the John Conner is now a new Terminator gimmick.

Snowmanfloza on Apr 13, 2015

19

Watched it the second time and they tell the whole movie with twists and all! It's one big movie in a two minits trailer, now I have doubts to go! 🙁

ari smulders on Apr 13, 2015

20

Well.......

Brian Sleider on Apr 13, 2015

21

Strange choice to make it look so light and colourful. Those effects seem like they still need a lot of work. Can't really come up with anything positive to write about this, other than they did a good job casting Emilia Clarke as a young Sarah Connor. I'm not familiar with her acting, but she definitely looks like a young Linda Hamilton. Overall, it doesn't look very promising from my perspective. I wasn't planning on seeing it anyway, and this only reinforces that decision. The only real highlight for me is the theme song.

NathanDewey on Apr 13, 2015

22

Cringe and bad effects, that about sums it up.

Mindless fun for me. And overall, not very bright idea, either ...

26

I'm probably the only person on earth who enjoyed the last Terminator movie, so I'll very likely see this as well 😛 (Note, I didn't say the last Terminator was GOOD :P)

Bibowski on Apr 13, 2015

27

Me too!

ari smulders on Apr 13, 2015

28

Me too but this feels like they are returning back to a time when terminator wasn't as dirty. Kinda like taking the last 3 batman movies and returning them to time when they were a joke and colorful and george clooney had detailed nipples. WTF

29

it coasts $10 to see this movie I'm in

angel figueroa on Apr 13, 2015

30

This looks so bad it actually looks awesome

SallySpider on Apr 13, 2015

31

Yes, with a proper 80s soundtrack ala original Terminator it could be a awesome B movie. 🙂

Sascha Dikiciyan on Apr 13, 2015

32

Agreed. The Casting looks terrible. Lame speeches in trailers is already a bad sign. But I will admit, curiosity will get the best of me so I will mostly likely watch it once it's out on bluray or whatever.

Sascha Dikiciyan on Apr 13, 2015

33

I'm keeping my fingers crosses that this ends up being good, that they pull off whatever it is they are trying to pull off. But this trailer does not inspire a lot of confidence at all. First trailer had me on the fence, this one has me sliding away from optimism and towards pessimism.

Chris Groves on Apr 13, 2015

34

I suppose how people feel about that decision is largely going to color the 'vibe' they have about this film. To me it just feels like an idea thrown at the wall and then they ran with it.

Chris Groves on Apr 15, 2015

35

I guess, I just can't find myself getting excited about these off the wall ideas.

Chris Groves on Apr 15, 2015

36

Well. It was shitty to realize I had lost interest in the Die Hard franchise, and now I've lost interest the fucking Terminator franchise. Damn it all. At least I have those older ones.

grimjob on Apr 13, 2015

37

and it was so very good ,both of them!

ari smulders on Apr 13, 2015

38

I love Laurel and Hardy. My personal favorite of the original comedy teams. -Laa da deeee, da da daaaa, da d da da. -Pum pum. Oh man, I'm laughing over here just thinking about it. So good.

grimjob on Apr 13, 2015

39

They where the best ever. Copied many times but never better!

ari smulders on Apr 13, 2015

40

OK, the CGI needs some work, the casting is questionable, but hey, it's a movie about time traveling people and robots. The action and set pieces look rather solid, The movie has some interesting twists in it, Arnie appears to have some serious screen time, Jason Clarke seems to get more and more bad-ass, so based on this trailer, I would be prepared to spend my $10 on this.

Nash on Apr 14, 2015

41

This looks awful! John Connor as an evil terminator?? And you idiots still hate on Terminator Salvation??? Come on! Lol

SkyNet300 on Apr 14, 2015

42

Jesus. Massive spoilers in this trailer. Way to ruin it even more.

Henry Willis on Apr 14, 2015

43

Awful trailer.

Scarlett Witch on Apr 14, 2015

44

I'm glad they spelled out the entire movie in the trailer, because now I won't ever have to watch it. Arnold has indeed jumped the shark and this franchise is dead.

RAW_D on Apr 14, 2015

45

You'd have thought Paramount's Pub & Marketing division would have paid attention to the "WTH - thx for major plot spoiler" outcry from HTTYD2 last summer. Apparently not. The teaser left me "meh". The first trailer got me interested. The massive plot point revealed in the 2nd trailer (which means at least 1-2 more to rehash & spoil more stuff) made me go back into the "meh" group. I'll probably catch it - but at this point, not going to be on my first-run, evening price 3D Lie-Max list for summer films. Mebbe the $7.50 pre-noon 2D viewing.

VAharleywitch on Apr 15, 2015

46

Paramount had nothing to do with marketing How To Train Your Dragon 2. That film was marketed/distributed by Fox. Dreamworks Animation is no longer partnered with Paramount.

Chris Groves on Apr 15, 2015

47

Didn't say Paramount did have anything to do with it - but their Marketing dept should have paid attention to how spoiling major plot points w/o even having to infer or put pieces together, in a trailer, was not well received by the public.

VAharleywitch on Apr 15, 2015

48

I really don't understand. It's a mess. It looks like they threw in every possible conceptual twist they could come up with. This is one of those times I think a reboot would've made more sense... The terminators age?

Jonathan on Apr 15, 2015

49

Yes the terminators appearance will age. They have synthetic human tissue covering their bodies.

Dennis Olivares on Apr 15, 2015

50

*In Ahnold's voice/accent* "Well, now, Khaleesi, where are your dwagons, NOW!?!?!?!?" Sorry. Just had to do it.

Mark Brackney on Apr 18, 2015

51

2 terminators chasing the heroes, seems awesome! Even better if it's each for themselves. No teams. 3 terminators against each other would be great to see on screen haha

Very Cool...
