Marvel has unveiled the first full trailer for Captain America: Civil War, from the Russo Brothers, and damn does it look good. Chris Evans stars as Cap, friend of Bucky played by Sebastian Stan, and they end up squaring off against Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. This almost seems like a crazy mash-up, but it's actually the beginning of a new saga from Marvel Studios, continuing into Avengers. This also features our first ever glimpse at Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, who shows up in the second half of this. Fire it up below!

Here's the first official trailer for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, direct from YouTube:

guess they hiding the spidey stuff for the general public not keeping up

2

well, I mean, no shit Sherlock. if he shows up in teasers at all it'll probably be in mid to late April. or they'll just save him for the movie. get your head outta your ass.

davidshaw on Nov 24, 2015

3

dumbass that was my point.....footage is being saved for next trailer

desispeed on Nov 24, 2015

4

Yeah, probably the very last trailer before release.

DAVIDPD on Nov 24, 2015

5

And even then, I doubt they'll show much beyond a web being fired, or a shot of his glove or eye. I think they'll keep the full shots hidden until CW comes out... although that will depend on how well they keep the Spidey costume under wraps from filming his standalone, which iirc begins in early 2016.

VAharleywitch on Nov 29, 2015

6

yeah....besides, it's only the first trailer/teaser....I'm sure we'll see more in due time. They'll probably tease Spidey with something vague, yet reminiscent of him, like a web hanging from a lamppost or something....

Still taking a back seat to BVS for me but the Russo brothers made one amazing movie and it looks like they've made two now.

Jon Odishaw on Nov 24, 2015

9

Agreed. BATMAN V SUPERMAN is the king-shit because it will so interesting to see if they can actually pull it off. Also, SUICIDE SQUAD might get precedence over CIVIL WAR just to see what happens with that beast.

Love the way you two think!

Could still be the same role. Just aimed in a different direction.

Captain America has been by far Marvel's best and off course GOTG. Winter Soldier took the MCU to another level. I didn't think that Age of Ultron lived up to that level. This looks great. Can not wait.

Bl**dy, bl**dy, bl**dy h*ll! Have I been waiting for this. And it doesn't disappoint.

This is awesome and Captain America is the best character in the Marvel universe. For me is winter soldier the best marvel movie besides the avengers. Age of ultron did disappoint me, and i had to much faith in Josh Whedon. It was to messy...

ari smulders on Nov 25, 2015

22

I've not yet seen the trailer but I have to agree with you on Captain America. I really do love his character and Chris' portrayal of him. I saw a Phase Two movie marathon at the weekend gone and GOTG is still my favourite Marvel film. I do enjoy the Winter Soldier and enjoy seeing more Cap on screen though the 'get out of jail floor cutter thing' and some other silly bits bring it down a notch or two. I thought seeing Ultron at the cinema again would lift it up from my initial disappointment as I wasn't going in with such high expectations but it really is very poor. It is so hard to reconcile that this was made by the same guy who did the first Avengers film. It's a mess and is almost like someone of lesser talent is trying to copy what Joss did in the first one. How Marvel managed to drop the ball on Ultron is beyond me.

Payne by name on Nov 25, 2015

23

It was one big mess of action sequences and that from the man who is very strong in character development. The pacing was to high and like at the end of Godzilla you where bombarded with cgi wich goes no where...

ari smulders on Nov 25, 2015

24

too high for general moviegoers . Not CB readers who are used to it .. Not fair ragging on character development . As the Hulk/BW relationship is ALL people wanted to talk about , when it came out . Also the setting up of the Cap/IM tension , and finding out Hawkeye had a family hidden away ( all in that SLOW ? segment people thought was boring ) . Also all the Thor stuff that was left for Deleted Blu-Ray scenes . PLUS the VIZ , deciding he liked humanity better .not machines (of course that took longer in the CBs ) Wanda and Pietro turning , because " we hurt people but we're not MASS Murderers ' ...do I even have to mention Rhodey , always trying to measure up to Tony , In and Out of armor ? ....

Dominic on Nov 29, 2015

25

I think i like Chris Evans and indeed he is a little bit like Superman... But i only came to the conclusion i like Captain America the most in all his appearances in the marvel universe. That said i liked Paul Rudd in ant-man allot! But for me winter soldier blew me away!

ari smulders on Nov 25, 2015

26

Yes snowpiercer was very good and that for a 80 million budget.

ari smulders on Nov 25, 2015

27

Evans was a more DESPERATE leader , in SP and every Cap movie notes he is an ex-skinny nerd with few social skills , now man/mutant out of time . Looking for new motivations since he awakened to No Nazis - and Peggy in an asylum . Thus he has no purpose , and doesn't SEEM interesting . as a character .. so I see this movie as him finding his purpose ..even if he dies shorty after

Dominic on Nov 29, 2015

28

Peggy wasn't in an asylum... she was in a nursing home/hospice, due to age & dementia.

VAharleywitch on Nov 29, 2015

29

no need to sugarcoat it .. it may not be a Stereotypical horror show type of " asylum " , but dementia is a medical diagnosis . and that patient needs care a small nursing home or veterans' hospital may not provide . seeing how quickly she went from lucid , to Not lucid . and we really just saw a hospital room in the movie , right ? no actual facility description ? ..sorry if that word tripped bad associations ...I'm not obsessed with Hayley's show like many , so I don't know the character's minutiae

Dominic on Nov 29, 2015

30

I thought Winter Soldier turned Captain America into a well-rounded character as well as a relatable one. He became a more grounded version of his idealistic self imo. Perhaps best character in the Marvel universe is too much but so far I think he's atleast the most interesting hero in the Marvel cinematic universe. Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to Civil War!

Neuromancer on Nov 25, 2015

31

Well, if you've read the comic book of the same title you can say there's nothing at all from the original story in this. They've only took the title because sounds cool. And Marvel insists on making Avengers fight each other on every single movie, no surprise here. I only hope this movie has an actual story arc: a beginning - middle - end and doesn't just simple finish with 4 post credits scenes for every other Marvel product... I mean movie.

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

32

They are using less characters than the comic, which is going to make for a better story. If you have 200 characters involved you might as well call it Avengers 3 because it will be just one endless 4 hour battle. The way it is now they can still fit some plot into it - whether it ends up being great or not.

bumboclot on Nov 25, 2015

33

There's enough characters on this one to call it Avengers 3 already. More than in Avengers and Avengers 2, for sure. Don't get me wrong, the actual Civil War comicbook is impossible to translate it into a movie, because there's tons of other stuff there, like Punisher and The Fantastic Four. But what I'm saying is the trigger of the fight it's just "oh, I thought I was your friend". Yes, Tony Stark is jelly of The Winter Soldier.

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

34

btw , Avengers " fought " each other , all the time , in the CBs .. esp with Thor's ego in the mix ... .prob used by writers to make reasons for a character to go Don't hold SH movies , to some Oscar-like standard . . as I think some on this page are doing . Maybe in SFX , but not in plot or characterization . SOME arcs are worthy (DOFP) ; not the basic ethos and pathos of the genre . Retro-hate on the movie all u want , but watching it was the Closest to being like Reading a Comic Book as any Marvel movie has been . In its pacing and its segments of certain character interactions

Dominic on Nov 29, 2015

35

Okay, that looks pretty epic. So many iconic memorable images within the trailer, it's going to be hard to forget these when I sit down to watch the film. Particularly as I'm going to find it very hard to not watch the trailer again.

Payne by name on Nov 25, 2015

36

This looks like it can be as good or even better than Winter Soldier. The Russo brothers are definitely bringing a more serious tone to their Marvel movies which I love. Can't wait to see what they'll do with The Avengers.

Jason Savinon on Nov 25, 2015

37

If they can keep the energy & excellent storytelling they generated in CA:WS in this one, then I have zero concern for Infinity War. Even though I love Whedon... AoU was a bit of a mess.

VAharleywitch on Nov 29, 2015

My hardon just busted through my zipper!

Cyberdine on Nov 25, 2015

39

On first view, I wasn't totally blown away....maybe I expected my brain to explode, or to have an orgasm....however, my interest is definitely piqued. This looks nothing like the Civil War comics, but that means nothing, really. Black Panther looks pretty epic though. I wonder if this is the trailer that's rumored to play before The Force Awakens? Maybe they'll cut an "extended" trailer...

TheOct8pus on Nov 25, 2015

40

Speaking of orgasms. I'm wondering if they are going to bother even bringing up the New York and Socovia incidents like showing how destructive the Avengers are. Not only saying that SHIELD was actually HYDRA and on that point HYDRA and Avengers are basically the same menace... oh, wait, no, they are fighting because friendship is magic and Bucky is not a baddie, -my little pony's voice- he's my friend.

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

41

It doesn't look like they're staying faithful to the comics, but they SHOULD use the Socovia and NYC incidents in place of the "Stamford Incident" from the comics. Based on this trailer they make it seem like Capt Americano is starting a civil war because he's besties with Bucky....

TheOct8pus on Nov 25, 2015

42

Well said, acording to this trailer there's a Civil War (which is a pretty heavy title for a movie) motivated by Tumblr reasons. I know, killing an entire kindergarden is not going to be shown in a Disney movie, but hey, they've killed and destroyed 2 cities so far, and they were infiltrated by nazis this whole time!

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

43

BTW, I would totally watch a movie about WW II by the Russo Bros. where Hitler invades Poland because Stalin started to be besties with Churchill. It should be entitled "Ich dachte, wir wären Freunde"

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

44

I think you are both right in that they're using NYC and Sokovia as the catalyst. Was I the only one that saw that the book's cover said "Sokovia Accords"?

Cinephile3 on Nov 25, 2015

45

Nope - not only one. Until a site (comingsoon I think?) posted the magnified screenshot of the entire cover, the only thing I made out was Sokovia Accords.

VAharleywitch on Nov 29, 2015

46

HEY HEY HEY ....that second city was destroyed with no Nazi involvement. That was all Avengers.

Higgens on Nov 25, 2015

47

True. That was all Ultron and the Avengers. And basically all started with Tony and his delusions of grandeur. And I have to say that I liked AOU a bit more than the first movie.

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

48

I think the "besties with bucky" is more of a ignition source rather than the gas. I do not see cap wanting to be tied to another possibly tainted governing body anymore.

Higgens on Nov 25, 2015

49

Yeah....I'm sure there will be a major incident like in Stamford in the comics, but the Bucky plotline from Winter Soldier needs to be resolved first, so they might as well make that a reason for Captain not to give himself up

TheOct8pus on Nov 25, 2015

50

You can totally see Iron Man unfriending Cap on FB reflected on his screen in that shot!

capitandelespacio on Nov 25, 2015

51

I must have let out quite an audible gasp of enjoyment at the end of the trailer when the 3 are fighting cuz my co-worker across the room asked if everything was ok. LOL. This is going to be awesome. Yes the plot doesn't stem from whether to keep identities secret like the comics but this Sakovia Accord obviously takes the place of that. What I will find the most interesting is seeing why each character decides to choose what side they are on. I also hope the movies start acknowledging the television series a bit. I'm sure Agents of Shield will deal with the fallout of Civil War and I can't imagine Coulson would sit this out so a cameo of that cast in this film would help tie everything together. Will we see a glimpse of Spidey in the next trailer?

David Diaz on Nov 25, 2015

52

That fight at the end where buck and cap are tossing the shield back and forth is BAD ASS!! But the moment is sad, to see them beating on their former brother in arms. This looks to be a great movie, based off of WS.

Higgens on Nov 25, 2015

53

Maybe a potential insight into the future of Capt. America with the passing of the shield.

TK on Nov 25, 2015

54

I doubt it - they'd have to spend precious screen-time dealing w the fallout of Coulson being alive. I suspect it'll be as it's been: AoS show deals w/ effects of the MCU, while other than SHIELD being resurrected & hunting HYDRA the MCU won't be referring much to it. Though I would like to see the MCU attempt to reconcile the 2 'branches' - Coulson's & the Big Splashy Base in the middle of no where as presented in AoU & Ant-Man.

VAharleywitch on Nov 29, 2015

Those characters are not bland. They are "good" to an extreme, which makes them out of the oridnary. Only bland or unbelievable stories make them bland characters. If you know how to explore a character with your story, then these extreme personalities are the most interesting ones.

I'll take it as a shut down between private and state sector. An exchange of arguments about the right to exercise the violence in a public space. Of course, it's for greater good even if we don't understand it. As long as we pay for it. Some might really enjoy it ...

Leading up to all the similar tech and fights . Judge by how the movies Get To the Fights , not the fights themselves ... as above hate the game( Hollywood) ; not the player ...

ahh u dodge my point ... Firstly Adults WRITE this , not kids . ..and do the art and the inking( coloring) Adults also are the biggest purveyors , as what kid has money to buy 10-30 CBs monthly , that cost $1.99 to $3.50 a pop ? obv it's adults behind the scenes , in movie business , as well Maybe we should feel sorry for You . .. Look at it this way : There's no better time TO BE a CB fan , BUT now . Hollywood NEEDS us , or their studios fail .... and it's complaints from the " fan boys " that got better directors and producers doing the movies . They have the scripting and realism of the characters very close to how they are in CBs ...

88

Which I know know fully. I felt the same way about the Iron Man trailer and several Avengers trailers, even though I enjoyed all of them. Duh, I expect greatness; I'm a living human and thus have been following every MCU movie. The trailer it's isn't that great though and doesn't get me at all hyped with the exception of Black Panther.

Lar Rackell on Nov 25, 2015

89

Yeah you can tell they're holding back a lot, the trailer looks like snip-its of maybe 2 or 3 scenes/mins of an almost 3 hour movie, which to be honest is probably a smart move. They showed EVERYTHING during the Ultron trailers and they rocked, but the movie not so much. I do have to say though AoU does grow on me a bit more every time I see it.

BNN667 on Nov 27, 2015

90

Captain America for me is the best hero out of the Avengers and his movies have been the most entertaining, with Iron Man being a close second. So to see these guys going up against each other will be pretty sweet! This trailer looks intense and it looks like we might lose a few heroes before Thanos comes to town which is kind of sad. Hopefully no one dies before they reunite to take him on. This movie looks a lot better than AOU so I'm hoping Marvel redeems themselves for that crapstorm that was the last Avengers movie. GO TEAM CAP!!!
