Enemy

Before making Prisoners, director Denis Villeneuve and actor Jake Gyllenhaal collaborated on Enemy, an adaptation of Nobel Prize-winning author José Saramago's 2002 novel The Double. Now the film is headed for theaters this spring and following a couple cool posters for the bizarre thriller, the first trailer has arrived. Gyllenhaal plays a university lecturer who spots a minor actor who looks just like him. Consumed by the desire to meet his double, Adam tracks down Anthony, an actor living with his pregnant wife Helen (Sarah Gadon) and engages him in a complex and dangerous struggle. Yeah, it looks strange.

Here's the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve's Enemy, originally from Yahoo:

Brilliantly adapted from the late Nobel Prize-winning author José Saramago's 2002 novel The Double, the latest from Denis Villeneuve (Incendies, Prisoners) breathes new life into the doppelgänger tradition, with a hypnotic, haunting, surreal approach that reaffirms the Quebec director as one of our generation's most skilled storytellers. Adam (Gyllenhaal) is a glum, disheveled history professor, who seems disinterested even in sex with his beautiful girlfriend, Mary (Mélanie Laurent). Watching a movie on the recommendation of a colleague, Adam spots his double in a bit role, and decides to track him down—an adventure he quite relishes. The identical men meet, and their lives become bizarrely and irrevocably intertwined (via TIFF). Denis Villeneuve's Enemy was picked up by A24 Films at TIFF, and will arrive in theaters on March 14th.

Now this, I can definitely dig. Plus the music sounded familiar.

The music is Zack Hemsey - One Minute Over, it's from the short film "The Candidate".

One of them shaves their beard and all the who's who would be resolved. There's gotta be more to it than that though because that's too easy a solution.

Maybe they're the same person, like in Fight Club.
