Paul Walker

It is with a great sadness that we must report the tragic death of actor Paul Walker. Reps have confirmed that Walker died in a car crash in California on Saturday, November 30th, 2013, at age 40. Star of the Fast & Furious franchise, reports are saying that Walker was taking his friends out for rides in Santa Clarita in a new 2005 Porsche GT when the driver he was with lost control and hit a tree. The car then burst into flames and both occupants were killed. While many at first thought this was just another internet hoax, various PR friends have confirmed with Walker's rep directly that his death is not a hoax. It is very real, unfortunately.

Actor Paul Walker's early roles in Hollywood included appearances in Pleasantville, Varsity Blues and She's All That in the late 90s. He broke out big playing Brian O'Conner in Fast and the Furious as well as with Joy Ride, both released in 2001. Since then, he has gone on to star in four more Fast & Furious sequels, and was in the middle of filming Fast & Furious 7, being directed by James Wan. We're not sure how much he had filmed of Fast & Furious 7 yet, though he did show up in a first look video. (We'll have more updates soon.) TMZ reports that Walker was in Santa Clarita for a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort, and went for a ride in a friend's new Porsche when the accident happened, leaving him and his friend dead.

This is extremely tragic news to report regarding an actor that was reaching/in his prime. In addition to his Fast & Furious roles, Walker was also beloved for his performance in the movie Running Scared. He also starred in Eight Below, appeared in Flags of Our Fathers, Takers, Into the Blue, Vehicle 19 and the indie Hours, directed by Eric Heisserer. According to his IMDb, he has finished filming a role in Brick Mansions, directed by Camille Delamarre, and was obviously slated to star in Fast & Furious 7, (tentatively) due out in theaters July 11, 2014 next summer. While not currently married, Walker does have a 15 year old daughter.

It's a particularly sad story and completely shocking, considering Walker was quite young and so admired. Not only was he a talented actor, but he was a nice guy too, which makes this news even harder to swallow. We'll be keeping an eye out for any major updates regarding this news, his life, and his upcoming projects.

Update: Universal, behind the Fast & Furious franchise, has released a statement: "All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family." In addition, Walker's official Facebook page posted a memo confirming additional details: "It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives."

Fast and Furious will never be the same without Walker, he was one of the main and best actor of the series.

Him and Diesel, as well as the Rock even. Just NOT the same without O'Connor though, he was a staple.

R.I.P to the other passenger who died with Paul Walker that no one cares about because he wasn't famous

Luke Hanna on Dec 1, 2013

26

Walker was the passenger. Rodas was the driver.

Xerxexx on Dec 1, 2013

27

The average driver has trouble with HP at that level. Where not talking feel....meaning the ride. You pay that much for a car and the ride is exceptional and the handling is mint. I'm talking that type of HP in your average drivers hands can be dangerous especially when ego is involved. Put you everyday driver in a Porsche like this one and it will take some getting use to

Unbelievable news considering universal wanted fast 8&9&10 now this Respect to his family. Universal if you have any heart you should delay the film. Ad someone mentioned I hope theres enough footage for his last performance. To all yhe bullshit critucs that dissed him all the years I hope they eat theyre words the amount of respects ive seen on social media is beyond words of how many fans the dude had. I always pictured him as Captain Blue if a Captain Scarlett film had been made.

A real shame. As much as people criticised his acting talent, I always found that he had a very likeable, easy charm on the screen that made him pretty magnetic to watch.

Paul Walker didn't drive, it was Roger Rodas who was a professional race car driver.

He was the best part of the F&F series, they should just wrap it up after this.

Armitall on Dec 1, 2013

Man, this really sucks. The Fast & Furious series was a big part of my childhood, and turned into an awesome guilty pleasure as I got older. Let's hope there's enough footage for him to appear as O'Connor a final time.

From the pics I have seen looks like he smashed his car into a tree doing 100+. Guy FnF was movie not real life this is what happens when an actor tries to live out his movie. I feel bad for the poor sot he killed with his recklessness.

46

You are aware that he wasn't the driver right? Why would you go out of your way to post something like this without checking the facts? Welcome to the internet folks!

Mike on Dec 1, 2013

47

You'll be surprised what damage can be caused at 40 or 30 hitting a unmovable object like a tree or lamppost. Get facts before you troll, he wasn't driving.

Steven on Dec 2, 2013

48

Get your facts straight before you post something like that...dumbass! He wasn't even driving. And before you make stupid comments like that, maybe you should try and find out what kind of person he was. Probably someone totally the opposite of you...thank god!

RIP Mr. Walker Joy Ride was a classic for me as a kid, and Paul Walker and Vin Diesel WERE The Fast and the Furious. Walker even came back for the 2nd when Diesel didn't. This is truly unfortunate news, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Chris Groves on Dec 1, 2013

Yep, he was very good in Joy Ride too.

Poor bastard. RIP Paul

Such heroic nonsense on Dec 1, 2013

52

People need to get over this shit. Whether he was the driver, or his friend was. Both of them should have known better, but that's what you get with stupidity -- severe consequences. Let that be a lesson to you folks. If you crash your car doing 100+ in a 40 zone, your car can be fixed, but your sorry dumb ass won't.

ali3000 on Dec 1, 2013

53

Do you know if they were speeding? Because hitting a tree or lamppost at 40 would do exactly the damage we see in those tragic pics.
