I've never read a GOTG comic, so I really don't know what to think. It certainly has a different vibe from the other MCU films. Looking forward to this movie now. One thing I was happy about was that Rocket Raccoon looked pretty legit.

I'm 100% up for it. We've never really seen this kind of snarky tone brought to a heavy sci-fi/space opera type of film. Nobody is getting called "A bunch of A-holes" in Star Wars or in Asgard.

Mickey Mouse knows the power of children - they watch the trailer, get super excited, parents, who don't have much time for their children will take them to see it because they are gonna cause less trouble, plus parents can relax a bit. BTW. After watching Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 on BR, I am so happy that I didn't have to pay for a cinema ticket. Avengers is still the only Marvel movie that deserves the good ratings and the box office 🙂

Crazy, weird, wild...it looks like such a great blend of so many things...and none of them are 'typical cookie cutter summer movie'. Just as Gunn's "Super" was a superhero movie that still managed to be fresh, unique, and subversive in it's own right...this seems like it will be much of the same. Although obviously in the context of still being a big summer blockbuster. I feel that this one is going to surprise a lot of people. Disney's marketing and the Marvel name will bring people to the party, but I think when people see how fresh the film is, then word of mouth will carry it.

Different is exactly the word, and execution is the key. A walking, talking, bad-ass raccoon shooting guns - That can either be the worst idea ever of the best idea ever. It could be 'so crazy that it just might work'. Judging from this trailer, it seems that they've nailed the execution of the film. Now it's only a question of whether it will click with audiences.

Once again Marvel demonstrates it can make Sci-Fi/Superhero movies fun, exciting, and mesmerizing. I know, it's only a trailer, but it certainly falls in line with what they've been bringing audiences in the last 5-6 years, even if for only 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Can't wait to get a full 2 hours of it.

This looks like a family adventure movie, why do they feel the need to inject humor in all these superhero movies is beyond me, they all end up with the same tone wich is fine if you are 15yo but if you want something a little more grounded and plausible, nope, no can do.. Was really looking forward to this but im so sick of this shoehorned humor that is actualy putting me off for good on these types of movies, i think there is a place for kids movies (disney etc) and theres a place for some grow up sci fi, and its not like this humor is funny either, i hate the humor on thor 1, but this trailer even stops the scenes so ppl can laugh just like in a sitcom.. what the hell? The hooked on a feeling song makes this look like a parody of a real sci fi movie that never came out.. thats what they are going for, jesus christ.

So what? LOTR has gollum in it, it still has a serious tone, and its a fantasy setting, they arent making jokes 24/7 like on this trailer, im sure the kids will love this movie, i just wanted it to be in a different tone, also there have been 2 writing points of view of these comics, and none of them were this goofy, at all. My problem is that these movies are trying to capitalize on the wallets of the parents that bring kids, and not worried at all that the rest of the public with half a brain doesnt want to hear sorry excuses for a joke every 2 min into a movie. I will not see it based on this trailer, im sure many of you will enjoy it, but i will voice it out, or you just want to hear how everyone thinks this is great and all? If the meal isnt up to the snuff on a restaurant i will complain, i dont want future events to repeat themselfs (these kind of movies) because i care about half decent cinema, and these blockbusters are going downhill with this so called humor and tone. Its turning into a kiddy fest. Its such a wasted potential, the movie as some incredible shots on some places, and its even dark at points from a visual point of view (wich isnt at all in line with this humor) its like it was going to be like i thought would be, but some producer came along and said, wait lets make it "MORE TATICAL " just like this new robocop, lets make it more humorous, lets bring some jokes in, and turn this into a comedy/adventure setting, not even EP II and III were this goofy and those movies werent great to begin with.

I didn't say you couldn't voice your opinion. I understand your sentiment but I think for these type of movies to be accepted they need to be self aware, and a talking raccoon is just silly, especially considering their world is relative to our world. The LOTR is in it's own universe. Hobbits are fantasy, but a deranged, mutated, tortured hobbit (Gollum) isn't silly. I will say that I do think the balance is important. Too many jokes can undermine the movie.

While I haven't read the comic, everything I have read about them and about the characters points to a much more humorous tone so so far it looks like they are keeping the tone of the source material. And your restaurant analogy doesn't really work. You're judging the film based off of a 2 minute trailer. Staying with your food analogy, that's like a little kid puttig a small amount of food on the end of thier fork and barely touching their tongue and saying that they don't like it. Some movies are good and some are bad and I really hope this is good but it's bad I will say so. Just not after 2 minutes of clips.

However , isn't that the complaint we ALWAYS have about CB movies ; that they don't reproduce the book and its characters faithfully enough ?? So if one is apparently trying to , give it a break . Until you see the whole thing , at least . Or get a solid review from here .... also maybe comparing LOTR and Marvel isn't that easy or fitting , as Disney and HBO have very different mission statements . Actually, this pretty much matches the way the comics are. While serious at times, the GotG comics really are fun comics, and are nothing like, say, Batman. The comics know when to be witty and when to be serious, and this trailer seems to be showing that too.

Technically that would have been Iron Man, who was only a second tier hero at the time of hs movie release. Not many people aside from comic readers really knew much about him, but the film was huge success. Iron Man has never been as big a hero as he is now.

Technically your'e speaking from the point of a non-comic book reader, because you would know Iron Man is a Stand Alone Character who has had over thousands of comics printed, over 12 volumes spanning from 60's until now, Guardians of Galaxy had small Stand Alone runs, most of there stories involved only miniseries 1-6 issue runs and also crossed with Avengers in a few of there stories. So Iron Man is just as big as Hulk, Thor, Captain America, maybe not Spiderman, but they did a Dare Devil movie and that Character hasn't had success since early 90's ... so as for different Marvel stories GofG is new breed dude...face it, your just a movie go'er not a comic nerd, I grew up in a comic store... GofG were never big only the Infinite Gauntlet and a few small crossovers, these are O.G newbies, but again, more people liked Iron Man and knew who he was compared to most Marvel characters... who's the big ones to you?

Big Hero names, to me at least, are defined by how well they're known OUTSIDE the comics; heroes who are recognizable, at least in some part, by even those who don't read comics. Even if you've never read a comic book or seen a comic book movie, you would at least know heroes like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America. Wonder Woman, along with many others. I define Big Heroes by how well people know them on whether or not they've read the comics. Iron Man, before his movie, was only a second tier hero. Not many non-readers knew who he was, what he could, or what kind of hero he is. now while I didn't grow up in a comic book store like you, I actually am a comic book reader; I knew who the Avengers were LONG before any news of the MCU came out. I knew who Iron Man was, who Thor was, I knew about Hawkeye and Black Widow and SHIELD and all of them. Hell, Doctor Strange was one of my favorite heroes growing up and Deadpool was a staple in my High School years. I was merely just talking from a non-readers viewpoint. From a non-readers POV, Iron Man was something new, something that I wouldnt never have seen unless I had read comics. He's in very few media outlets aside fromm comics and the MCU films, it'd be very rare to find anyone who really knew who he was before his first film. This is because Marvel, while a great rival to DC, doesn't have as many ICONIC heroes aside from the really big ones like Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, and the X-Men. I say that Iron Man was the first Non Big Hero for Marvel to do because Iron Man didn't fit (I think we can both agree that he's been a Big Name Hero for at least the past several years to the non-comic readers) into my, along with many other people's, definition of "Big Hero Names." Unless someone would have actually read comics like us, they wouldnt have known much, if anything at all, about Iron Man. So yes, I'm talking from the view point of a non-comic reader, because when it came to someone like Iron Man, you couldn't fairly look at it from any other. He wasn't as iconic as Spiderman, so to someone who doesnt read comics (i.e. most people who actually watches comic book films), Iron Man wasn't a Big Name hero. I'm with you that this is the first Non Big Hero film in a while (to me, since 2008 with Iron Man because he wasn't a Big Name hero to me, even if I did know him), especially since even most Die Hard Comic Fans (regrettably, even me) didn't know much about Guardians of the Galaxy before the film news came. However, I did my research on them and now I can safely say that I'm definitely a fan. Hopefully this film starts a pattern for some lesser known (at least lesser known to non-readers) heroes to start getting films; I personally would love to see a Booster Gold movie from DC, and I'm VERY excited to hear more news about the rumored Dr. Strange movie that Marvel has in development. So... there's your answer. To me, Big Hero names are heroes who people can recognize regardless if they read comics or not. I am indeed a comic book reader like you, although maybe not as big as one since I didn't get a chance to grow up in a comic store, and I knew about Big In-Comic characters like Iron Man long before his film came out. My favorite heroes are Dr. Strange, Deadpool, Aquaman (really love the New 52 version. The King of the Seas is finally getting some respect), Booster Gold, along with Groot from GotG. You're an avid comic reader who grew up in a comic store, what were the big heroes to YOU?

For real B. I mean think of it this way: if Tom Hardy were to play Drax, he could emote, show off muscle, even use his real voice! Contrary-wise, were Batista to play Bane in tdkr, he'd've had a gimp mask, his old letterman, and a voice something like a mix of Ricardo Montalban, Darth Vader, and Mickey Mouse. Beside all this, it would have matched his religion: he's a Bat-ista. He'll do great as Drax. The trailer says so.
