Every year, cinephiles wake up early to catch the announcement direct from France of the films playing at the Cannes Film Festival. For the 67th Cannes Film Festival taking place this May they've announced a diverse selection of films premiering, including a few midnight screenings (of David Michod's The Rover + Kristian Levring's The Salvation), a few out-out-comp picks like How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Zhang Yimou's Coming Home, and their usual fascinating line-up of Main Competition and Un Certain Regard films. That's the line-up for Cannes 2014, with possibly one or two more missing from the Main Competition. While they are missing a few others we were hoping to see in Cannes, and of course Terrence Malick is a no show, as always the festival promises to be exciting and invigorating anyway. Especially following last year with Blue is the Warmest Color winning the Palme d'Or, even though it didn't go on to be financially successful, it made for a very unforgettable Cannes for many critics. We're hoping for the same this year and hoping to find and enjoy some of the best cinema the world has to offer. Find more info about the festival and this year's selection on the official Cannes website, and stay tuned for updates from France in May.
