to serious for me and its scifi, i watched gravity and it had a few giggle moments with g clooney but not enough and was way to serious, life is about fun and i had more fun and giggles watching something like armagdedon even if it was dumb at least it was fun!!! just my opinon.

the honest reply to arthur , is that space IS Serious Shit . And life in space has to be taken seriously , if yoy want to keep living . Now it helps to have the attitude of Clooney's character , but he was VERY serious when he needed to be . Gravity is supposed to re-awe everyone about space while not sugarcoating its difficulties . Like compatible space station manuals , for one .... Apparently , 'Stellar has the same focus ...

thoroughly impressed. overlong but nicely put together. it has that reassuringly weighty, epic feel of something substantial, much bigger in scope and scale than i'd anticipated. in fact, so much more than i got from the initial teaser that i'm buying my ticket solely on this and the pedigree of those involved.

You need to take a chill pill, buddy. Hes entitled to his opinion. Doesn't mean his an asshole. But it does make you look like a fanboy. Personally, i LOVE The Prestige and Memento. 2 of my all-time favorite movies from Nolan. That said, I think the entire Batman Trilogy was rubbish. They looked good but it just wasn't my thing. Inception had so much potential but i felt in the end it was just another shoot em up, action movie. I wouldn't compare him to MB by any means but I do feel at times hes a bit overrated. In the end, no one wants a bad movie. I will be in line for Interstellar on day ONE. Not because of Nolan but just because i love scifi. The trailer looks good, so thats a good start. We shall see.

I like how they used the song from V For Vendetta. I remember seeing Natalie Portman standing in the rain with the thunder clapping in the distance and this song blaring in the theatre gave me chills. It looks pretty interesting, I'll be checking it out for sure. I've liked everything Nolan has done, although I was disappointed by Inception. Hopefully it'll be great.

My expectations for Inception were probably unreasonably high, it's a credit to how much I like Nolan in general, that I thought Inception would be one of my favourites based on the trailer. But, I felt it dragged a bit and there was no real sense of danger or meaning to much of what was happening. Also, I felt some of the characters weren't really needed and were underdeveloped. Not to say it's a bad movie by any means, I still like it. Maybe, now that my expectations are somewhat lowered - not by much - I'll appreciate this one more.

Life is better than a movie, and your ridiculous hyperbole shows you haven't lived enough to realize that. And I agree with NathanDewey, Inception has had a hell of a lot potential, but it ended up like a slightly above average Hollywood action flick. It had some great moments, sure, but most of it is exposition scene after exposition scene, and lame gunfights in dreams, where literally anything could be/could have been possible. I think Fincher's The Game is similar in tone and some of its themes, but has done a better job than Inception.

In my opinion, One of the greatest trailers ever made. I can`t believe how extraordinary this looks and yet you already know Nolan hasn`t showed you anything yet. I refuse to watch any further trailers or tv spots till this film arrives in IMAX. Jaw dropping, goosebumps inducing. Ugh...Nolan`s fucking done it again.

Calling that second trailer "gorgeous music" is quite a stretch. There's barely anything of musical value in those 2 minutes. It's a wash of pads and occasional panning on 3 notes. That might be described as sound design, but it's absolutely not music.

Quite breathtaking, and while it shows a lot, it's still not too much. Having read the script I'm also relieved that Nolan seems to have gotten rid of the wisecracking robot (I'm serious), which was my main concern. This looks truly spectacular and it might just become Nolan's best film in his filmography.

I agree with everything you said, except the wiseass robot remark. I liked the robot marine and the "robots with a sense of humor" thread that tracked through to the end. I do think the robots as a CONCEPT are mishandled in the screenplay. Seems to come out of left field. But they are a gateway to the....Chinese stuff that happens early in Act 3.

I agree with you regarding the robots. Robots are always great to see in Science-Ficition especially since they kinda are the invention of the future. And Tars is great and hilarious! Seeing his name pop up in the trailer is great that Nolan will still use him. Using really knowledgeable Robots I think are a great way to help humans see things from a different perspective and usually an even better one since Robots' intelligence or at least in this one tends to really surpass them hence making the humans really think more when it comes to fulfilling the mission and accomplishing the great task.

TARS is a robot that helps them with the mission from the script..doesn't give anything away.. like HAL from 2001! 🙂 The script is available online if you google it. And Nolan still is very much is at least sticking to the first part of the script which is cool because it works and is really well thought out since his Brother Jonathan is a genius..

LOL! How do you know that the robot is voiced by Matt Damon? That's hilarious though if it is! I agree with you that Matt Damon isn't the best candidate for a good robot. Have you read the script yet? It's leaked online. And the script is good or at least the story is but the dialogue after they leave they leave the Earth is definitely sketchy and Christopher Nolan releasing it in November many people are gearing towards the film will definitely be an awards contender so I think Nolan is sure going to have to really work on making the speech better or at least more emotional and relevant towards the humanity's last chance to find another home.

That's kind of what I meant, I guess, because the trailer seems to show the entire first part of the film (in a condensed version), while pretty much leaving out the second, more amazing part, and wisely so. It would have been easy to just compile shots of the mindboggling and otherworldly visuals of the film in the trailer to woo audiences, but I'm glad they didn't (except for the glimpse of the wormhole and bending stars). Instead the trailer just summarizes the plot up until the halfpoint. I don't need to watch anymore trailers after this one.

@jasonca:disqus spotted the name which was given to said robot in the script, inscribed on a rather abstract (monolith from '2001' anyone?) black block machine in the trailer (good eye, jason!). So that means the character apparently is still in the movie, but the script gave off a vibe (to me at least) that these robots look much more humanoid than that. With 'wisecracking' I meant that in the script TARS was programmed to show sarcasm/humor in order to be more relatable to humans (and on a meta-level, to movie-goers as well). I just thought that his one-liners were too cheesy and were too obvious "comic relief." But considering how TARS looks in the trailer, maybe they cut out the 'relatable character' thing, and maybe left the character at the same 'human' level as 'HAL9000'.

I also think Nolan is going more towards Matthew McConaughey's Character Cooper and his team encountering extra-terreistal life on the other side of the wormhole enabling the Earth to be able to survive by traveling through the wormhole and by invitation being able to share and live with an advanced civilization on other planets, hence saving humanity from extinction on Earth. I think this would be cool if this is where Christopher Nolan's original idea is leaning towards..but we'll have to wait and see!!! 🙂

This trailer is indeed a masterpiece. The tone, the pacing, the music..its perfect. Not sure if this considered a spoiler (since this is just an observation on my end, a guess i suppose) but i think i figured out something cool... all that talk in the trailer about "im coming back" and "must go beyond our lifespan" lead me to the conclusion that Jessica chatain's character is actually his aged daughter (kid has red hair as she does). So either he will come back himself not having aged a day (they seem to be going into a cryo chamber to sleep for interstellar travels) and shes an adult now. Or maybe even older. When i thought about it, it gave me goosebumps. Not a twist ending but something that would be an emotional payoff..we shall see!

The music in the trailer is an inspired choice for matching with the visuals. The trailer tells a mighty big story and offers some thought provoking questions. I hope the film has the shoes to fill it and doesn't become too wrapped up in it's own cleverness as Inception (in my opinion) ultimately did.

Yes, however, how many times did we see a trailer, a great trailer and the final movie was nothing like it. Tone wise. Best example, Prometheus (Sorry dont mean to open a dead horse). The original trailer was epic but the final movie was a complete disaster (In my book).
