Robert Zemeckis' Flight Trailer

"The way you landed that plane is nothing short of a miracle." It's been over a decade since we've seen a live-action film from Robert Zemeckis (after Beowulf, The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol became the director's focus), and ironically enough, that film was Cast Away, which followed Tom Hanks trying to survive on a desert island after a plane crash. Now the director is back to live-action filmmaking with a film that has a plane crash being prevented as the catalyst for a powerful drama starring Denzel Washington. The first trailer is here and it is quite something, quite a lot to take in, yet looks fascinating and quite good.

Here's the first trailer for Robert Zemeckis' Flight, originally in high def from Apple:

Flight marks the return of Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away) to live-action filmmaking after diving into motion-capture films like A Christmas Carol, The Polar Express and Beowulf. Written by John Gatins (Real Steel, Coach Carter), the film follows an airline pilot (Denzel Washington) who saves a flight from crashing, but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling about how the events unfolded. Don Cheadle, John Goodman, James Badge Dale, Melissa Leo and more star in the film which Paramount Pictures is sending to theaters on November 2nd this fall. Your thoughts?

Looks pretty good--and the cast certainly grabs the attention. And besides, it's Denzel and Don together again--it's been years since DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS.....

Wow. That's how you cut a trailer together. Yeah, it had a lot of information; but I still have unanswered questions. Well done, Mr. Zemeckis.

The movie looks great...but I still wonder...crash landing a plane upside down reduces casualties?

Assuming something like the ailerons were stuck and pushing the plane down.  Only way to get enough lift to land safely was to flip the plane and have the down ailerons become up ailerons.  (I'm not pilot-- just guessing) s

Washington is a national treasure. Throw in Cheadle, Goodman and an upside down jetliner? Wow.

Don't forget Bruce Greenwood! ...But in all seriousness, yeah, this film has a great cast.  Hopefully a great cast=great film.

Do you get it now, Zemeckis? You're really good at film making without all that motion capture rubbish. Welcome back old boy.

I love how all the comments are trashing what Zemeckis has been doing. Let an artist do whatever he wants. Who are you to say that it's rubbish or garbage or stupid when it's his passion?  I can't comprehend that.  Also film looks good.

Art criticism has been around as long as art.  We can say whatever we want, and of course, Zemeckis or any artist can do whatever they want, regardless of what's said...which is exactly what he did.  Heck, if he had listened to what people were saying he would have high tailed it out of there after polar express.

His motion capture films are awful. Leave animation to those guys at Pixar. Bob's live action films are awesome and I am so glad that he is finally back making real motion pictures.

Yes! FINALLY a non CGI crapfest from Zemeckis for once. Now it looks like he's back to makin REAL movies again with real sets and actors. Thank you movie gods!

Yeah, but it's got CGI in it--I mean, de plane! De plane! It is good to see him back, though.  Will be interesting to see how this film turns out.

Shame those planes can't fly upside down like that. Never mind :0

I'd type more, but I'm weeping with joy seeing Zemeckis direct human beings. Looks good.

Don Cheadle and Denzel Washington... A "Devil In a Blue Dress" reunion. Cheadle stole that film from Denzel. John Goodman and Denzel Washinton... A "Fallen" reunion. Goodman ALMOST stole that from Denzel. Bruce Greenwood and Denzel Washington.. A "Deja Vu"/''St. Elsewhere' reunion... Hell Zemeckis... did you cast everybody that acted with D in this?  Where's Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick and Russell Crowe?  Sheesh.... (Oh... the film looks keen...Im in there.)

Well, shit, where the hell is Sir Gene Hackman then?!
