Jodorowsky's Dune

Just after yet another awesome poster hit the web over a week ago for the festival favorite documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, the first trailer has arrived, giving us a glimpse into the film about the sci-fi adaptation that never came to be. The film has played at a slew of big festivals like Cannes, Toronto and Fantastic Fest, and it's not hard to see why. This looks like a truly fascinating look into a project that would have featured Mick Jagger, David Carradine, Salvador Dali, Orson Welles and more people you would never expect. Just Jodorowsky's enthusiasm makes me sad this never fully came together. See below!

Here's the first trailer for Frank Pavich's documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, originally from Yahoo:

In pre-production for over two years, Jodorowsky's Dune adaptation was to star his own 12 year old son alongside Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine and even Salvador Dali, set to a musical score by Pink Floyd and art-design by some of the most provocative talents of the era, including H.R. Giger and Jean 'Moebius' Giraud. All of this and more is covered in this new documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, directed by Frank Pavich (N.Y.H.C.). The doc first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and also played the Munich, Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals, plus Fantastic Fest. Jodorowsky's Dune was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics earlier in the summer, and will be released on March 7th this spring. Follow @JodorowskysDune.

I am so ready to see this film. One wonders how different the cinematic landscape might have been had Hollywood seen this project through.

I hope someone certainly becomes inspired to do a Dune remake based on watching this extraordinary documentary. What a grand vision this version would have been.
