The Master

"You've wandered from the proper path, haven't you?" Al Rose Promotions proudly presents the "second installment" of The Master teaser trailers focused on Joaquin Phoenix's character, following the first one debuted just a few weeks back. The Master, the new film from Paul Thomas Anderson, stars Joaquin Phoenix as alcoholic drifter Freddie Sutton, who becomes a part of a new faith-based organization created by Lancaster Dodd, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. This time we get a glimpse at Hoffman as the "Master" and his wife in the film, Amy Adams, playing Mary Sue. This looks absolutely riveting. See below.

Here's the second teaser trailer for P.T. Anderson's The Master, originally posted on YouTube:

A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.

Paul Thomas Anderson (the man behind films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) wrote and directed The Master. The film follows Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950's and his main disciple (Joaquin Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower, only to later break away from his teachings. The Master was secretly shown in 70mm at the Aero this month and will hit theaters starting September 14th.

Can anyone else say Oscar worthy film that will be overlooked? I hope I'm wrong about that last part.

I second that.

There is no way this will be overlooked. This will probably end up being the favorite to win in at least five or six categories. PTA's films fire on all cylinders.

i know what you mean, however, in a recent interview, Philip Seymour Hoffman said: '‘I think anyone who tries to assume what the movie will be is a fool. This is something Paul has created. It’s about the head of a movement, but he’s not the central character. It’s inspired by all those movements in the ’60s, it’s not a film about Scientology, I don’t think that’s something I’d really want to do. It’s not “The L Ron Hubbard Story”.’ http://www.timeout.com/berlin/features/1077/close-up-phillip-seymour-hoffman

This looks sexy. I know it's not the most appropriate word to describe it, but I don't have a better one right now, so: SEXY it is!
