The Master

"You seem to inspire something in him." The Weinstein Company has released the full theatrical trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, his new film starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd, Amy Adams as Mary Sue and Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Sutton, with Laura Dern and Rami Malek. This full trailer introduces the story, the characters, even the setting, and takes us on a stunning, mesmerizing, mysterious journey into what looks to be a take on Scientology. This looks incredible, truly phenomenal, everything we expect from PTA and perhaps more. You do not want to miss this - watch below!

Watch the full theatrical trailer for P.T. Anderson's The Master, originally unveiled by Yahoo:

A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.

Paul Thomas Anderson (the man behind films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) wrote and directed The Master. The film follows Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950's and his main disciple (Joaquin Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower, only to later break away from his teachings. The Master was secretly shown in 70mm at the Aero this month and will hit theaters starting September 14th.

Joaquin Phoenix is getting an Oscar Nod for this, based on the teasers and this, there's no doubt in my mind. PSH and Adams are likely too. I know everyone's going nuts about Django, but this looks way better to me based on this and the two teasers.

I know right! Rum would be a much better choice than *pfft* Gin... It gives the semen a much more creme like texture, not to mention the fact tha-- why are you all staring at me like that?

.. um.. I can't see why not?

I don't know why you're going about comparing the two movies. Tarantino and Anderson are both brilliant but in very different regards. They both deserve equal Oscar attention.

This looks to be a wonderful character piece. The only "weak" actor that I would be concerned with is Amy Adams but in the hands of PTA, I believe that this could be great. Really looking forward to this.
