"We make a really good team." TIFF has debuted the first short teaser trailer for Brian De Palma's new film Passion, a passionate (obviously) romantic thriller starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. Ohh this is going to be a delightful way to start off your morning. It's a teaser, almost like those for Prometheus and Alien, that flashes the title inbetween intriguing footage that makes you drool. You'll see what I mean. I know this is just an early teaser, but oh is it enticing, and I expect it's going to make a lot of people go a little crazy in anticipation for its fall festival premieres. Have I said enough? Give this teaser trailer a look below.
Here's the first festival trailer for Brian De Palma's Passion, on YouTube from TIFF (via RopeofSilicon):
Passion is directed by Brian De Palma (Carrie, Blow Out, Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito's Way, Mission Impossible, Snake Eyes, The Black Dahlia, Redacted), and the film is actually a remake of the 2010 French film Love Crime directed by Alain Corneau, starring Kristen Scott Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier as two feuding corporate executives. In this version, a young businesswoman named Isabelle (Rapace) plots murderous revenge after her boss and mentor Christine (McAdams) steals some of her fresh ideas. Things only get more complicated when Isabelle ends up in bed with one of Christine's lovers. De Palma wrote and directed the film, which will premiering at the Toronto and Venice Film Festivals this fall. Impressions?

First impressions: Noomi does not look sexy. Like, at all. Could be just me but I really hate bangs that look like bowl cuts. Even more of a boner shrinker than the audaciously horrible font they chose for the text. Also, why the hell did they think it was a great idea to reveal the title of the film, one letter at a time?

what? boner growing=good movie, boner shrinking=bad movie? thats a silly way to rate a movie thats not a porno don't you think i mean i doubt the sole intent of this movie was to maintain your erection.. dare i say there might even be a story line here

Body Double...Blow Out...Dressed To Kill....Brian de Palma has a very unique style and sometimes a style that people can't get used to, and this looks like it's going to have similarities to the three films I just mentioned. Those movies have an odd, kinky often times violent subject matter and this looks very similar. Very glad to see another de Palma film that might look like his older ones...but also with a hint of Femme Fatale, too.

I feel like De Palma has lost his touch in the last few films. This hasn't changed my opinion.
