The wait is over. We teased a short clip from the first trailer for Steven Spielberg's historical biopic Lincoln, and now the full trailer is finally here. This project has been gestating for years, and we wondered whether or not it would actually get made, but with a trailer like this, the wait has been well worth it. Daniel Day-Lewis plays our nation's 16th President of the United States of America, and this performance is definitely Oscar worthy. Some might even call a win for the actor now. There's also a fantastic ensemble on display including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field and more. Watch below!

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, which finished shooting last year, stars Daniel Day-Lewis (of My Left Foot, Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood) as our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, and focuses on the last four months of his life, guiding the North to victory during the Civil War. The cast includes Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, John Hawkes, Walton Goggins, Hal Holbrook, Tim Blake Nelson and David Oyelowo. The film has a screenplay by Oscar nominee Tony Kushner (Angels in America, Munich), based on many books about Lincoln's life. Disney, releasing the DreamWorks production, will debut Lincoln in limited theaters starting on November 9th, expanding wide on the 16th.

That was incredibly sappy. Good lord. Thank you for the trailer. Now I know I definitely won't be seeing this Spielberg film. I'm done with him. He still owes me for Indy 5, A.I., Minority Report....

first thing first, its indy 4, 2nd thing minority report is a masterpiece of a film it might not have the greatest script but that film was executed beautifully due to speilberg's directorial skills

MINORITY REPORT suffered because it was too ahead of its time. I watched it recently and was blown away by how good that film is.

I agree, I felt Minority Report was excellent. Chase and action scenes were fantastic. Spielberg's 'vision of the future' felt believable for the most part.

LOVE Minority Report! A.I. is pretty good too... I don't think I would be watching on the theaters, at least. Warhorse sucked BIGTIME.

While I am not as negative about this as you are... I was thinking the same thing about it being sappy. It felt just like the War Horse trailer... and I hated War Horse. We get that we're supposed to feel emotion... let us feel it, and don't shove all that sap down our throat. If the movie is doing its job right, we'll know when to feel sad, or happy, or angry, or whatever. I really hope this isn't the same way, and I doubt it will be, but as far the trailers go, they were soooo similar.

As a die hard Spielberg fan I would normally be offended by your comment, but it's your opinion, and the fact that out of all the films Spielberg has made...you managed to only come up with three bad ones. He must be pretty damn good after all. It takes the best of the best to make a film about President Lincoln and Spielberg is MORE than qualified.

Ha-cha! A true return to form from Mr Spielberg. This was in my top 10 most anticipated films of the year, and now is in my top 3. // Reminds me why I do not go to plays.

Just what I feared: a movie that portrays Lincoln as a paragon of goodness. The truth was far different. Lincoln was not loved by his country, and was actually fairly racist. The only reason he created the Emancipation Declaration was because, if the war was suddenly about slavery, Europe would not be able to support the South without it looking like they were supporting Slavery. I think a movie about a flawed, actually not-so-nice Lincoln would be much more interesting then this propagana-istic mush.

quite strange that the true story is rairly mentoned, and yes it would have been a better story, and its not to say he was a bad man, just a man of the times. didnt think spiel would have missed that.

i'm not sure that you can get he was a "paragon of goodness" from that trailer - i didn't. i also did NOT get (from the trailer) that he was " loved by his country" - . as far as the emancipation PROCLAMATION - it's effect was dependant on the faction it was applied to - you're correct about the europeans, but that wasn't the sole purpose of it and you've over-simplified it. as far as him being a racist - if you compare him (or most anyone else from that era) against the standards of today - he could be seen in that light, but so what? the times were different in that era. to apply todays standards to someone who lived over 150 years ago is ridiculous. anyway, say what you will - he kept the US together during it's most tumultuous time......i doubt that any president of the last 20 years could have done that. so, i think you're really off base in your comments about him. and this goes for those agreeing below. the idea that lincoln was "evil" is preposterous.

How dare this film touch my heart strings, make me feel warmth, and provide me with a sense patriotism. I mean, why oh why would Spielberg do this? He never makes films like this, and each time I see a Spielberg trailer I'm once again shocked that it's "sappy" as if I didn't expect that! /end sarcasm Love it.

Daniel Day-Lewis is usually pretty unrecognizable inside his roles. It's the Sally Field and Tommy lee Jones angle that's throwing me off. This movie seems like it would (for lack of a better phrase) feel better with a lesser known cast. I'm still anticipating this one, for sure.

i couldn't disagree more on the cast - DDL,tommy lee jones and hal holbrook really stood out to me. i'm sure the rest will be equally as good. however, i'm not sure what you mean by "feel better".

I think he meant that it just takes him out of it a little to recognize the faces of some of the major stars and that for this story it would help him more if they were not big names in the parts. I'll probably see this either way, but I can see his reasoning.

While the movie looks fantastic, i was frustrated by the constant use of dissolves to black between clips. 30% of this trailer is a black screen.

Exactly! Robert Barron's portrayal of Lincoln in that movie may not have been Academy Award winning, or possibly even historically accurate, but tell me that's not what you think of when you picture Lincoln!

Lincoln looks great. But the rest of the cast just look silly. especially sally fields and tommy lee jones.... uhggg. Also the film looks too clean and generic which makes everything look fake. Just like warhorse looked. yuck.

War Horse part deux - The adventures of saint Lincoln. The schmaltz and feel-good of the trailer is just so over the top. Lincoln was a great president, but this over the top presentation does not feel attached to this reality.
