If you're a cinephile, you know a lot of hard work from a hell of a lot of people goes into making movie magic possible. But perhaps one of the most overlooked performers in some of the most popular movies to hit theaters are the stunt men and women who put themselves into harm's way when the action gets a little too dangerous. CBS Sunday Morning (via Movies.com) recently did a 10-minute profile on stuntwork in feature films with a special focus on Sam Hargrave, the stunt double who steps in for Chris Evans when things get too tough on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. There's also a short look back at the history of stunts on the big screen, and the profession that deserves its own Academy Award category.

"I exist because I'm expendable." That's a pretty bleak job description to say the least, but it sounds like it's rewarding enough for Hargrave to keep up the good work. Hargrave was also the Captain America stunt double for Chris Evans in The Avengers, not to mention also turning in work on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Lone Ranger, Gangster Squad, Green Lantern, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and more. It's a tough job, and these hard-working people of action deserve much more recognition than they seem to receive from the industry that they help support painfully and masterfully. Don't you agree?

Placing that category in the Oscars is the only way The Raid 2 will get noticed ...damn it was sooooo good!

If I am honest the second time through I noticed the length but it wasn't an issue as I could see the importance of what Gareth kept in. It's a hard one because I know that there is an even longer cut out there and picking a fault with the current film for me personally was hard, there was a lot of exposition but it all felt valid...I don't know - I can see your point though.

I still think it was too long, not that I want it to go from fight to fight to fight without plot or story, but I think GE was trying to re-make The Godfather. Also, the fights were more "shaky-cam" than the first, which is unfortunate.

I cannot believe that there is no Oscar category for these guys. Just outrages really. They deserve some recognition as well.

I agree, if it wasn't for them, it would all be 3d CG , i hate that, animatronics and stunts are the way to film....
