Carrie Remake Teaser Trailer

"She's just a girl." It's not much, but the first teaser trailer for Kimberly Peirce's Carrie remake starring Chloe Moretz as Carrie has debuted, via Yahoo. It shows a very fiery, dark and quite bloody introduction to Carrie, and an interesting voiceover dialogue clips. That's about all the tease we get for now, but it's worth watching just to get an idea of how much of an updated remake this is. The cast includes Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Alex Russell, Portia Doubleday, Ansel Elgort, and Gabriella Wilde but none of them are really seen in this yet. I'm curious to hear thoughts on this teaser that is actually a real teaser. Fear Her Power.

Here's the first teaser trailer for Kimberly Peirce's Carrie remake, originally from Yahoo:

Kimberly Peirce (of Boys Don't Cry) directs this new adaptation of Stephen King's novel Carrie, with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (a writer and producer from "Glee" and "Big Love"). Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In, Hugo) stars in the film about a sheltered high school girl who unleashes her newly developed telekinetic powers after she is pushed too far by her peers and her unstable mother (Julianne Moore). The film also stars Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday. ScreenGems finished shooting Carrie earlier this year, and are planning to release the new version in theaters starting on March 15th, 2013 next year.

Wow indeed! Holy crap, I wasn't even that fond of Moretz until she glared the crap out of me. That was pretty awesome.

Carrie isn't supposed to be attractive.. feckin' Hollywood eh...

Being attractive doesn't always translate to popularity, though.

Corpse Bride on Oct 16, 2012

but being unattractive was one of the reasons she was ignored and outcasted...

Girls out girls for other reasons. Case in point: there was a girl a few years back (Phoebe P.) tormented to the point where she hung herself. And yet, she was a beautiful girl; her irish accent and the attention she got from the boys at school the reasons for the jealous hatred directed at her.

Thats fair dizzle, us Irish do get told our accents are sexy ... such a burden........... lol I know what you're saying though, there can be many other reasons.. I just thought if they were staying true to the source material she shouldn't be attractive.. but different interpretations welcome .

She looks scared, not scary....

Which is good, she's a little girl who just slaughtered a town. Wouldn't you be scared if all the sudden you realize you're a mass murdering psychic?

Brodhissatva on Oct 16, 2012

19

Isn't this about vengeance though? She's controlling her power so it's what she wants right?

Matt Peloquin on Oct 16, 2012

As she should. Carrie is the victim, not the villain.

Another one?

This isn't a remake per se; it's another adaptation of the novel. That approach worked well for "True Grit", so there's definitely room for optimism here.

I was about to post the same thing! Glad I had read the comments first!

Cool trailer. Not that interested in this, but I am curious to see how Moore plays that psychotic mother.

Carrie is the real victim here. She was tormented and bullied by "fellow" classmates. Perfect timing for this movie as there are many incidents of bullying in schools. Sadly most of the time the bullies get away with it. I would sympathize with her and consider her as a "hero".

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the idea of Carrie being remade. Then, I saw the teaser on IMDB last night, and Im actually looking forward to this. I loved Chloe Moretz in Kick-Ass, so I'm glad to see her career is still going places, and I give points to the production crew for casting an actual teenager in the lead as opposed to a 20-something like Sissy Spacek was. Also, a small tip for you all: The word "cast" is used in both singular and plural forms. The term is "outcast", not "outcasted".
