The True Story of an American Legend. It's almost time for the playoffs, and with one baseball movie going into theaters (Trouble with the Curve), another one is being lined up. Warner Bros has debuted a trailer for 42, the Brian Helgeland-directed Jackie Robinson biopic starring Chadwick Boseman as the first black Major League Baseball player. Harrison Ford also stars as Branch Rickey, the Dodger's manager who drafts him. This looks outstanding I was impressed by the trailer and footage. I really want to see this! Even more than Trouble with the Curve. Those few lines, the editing and music, this looks terrific. Don't miss it!
Watch the first trailer for Brian Helgeland's baseball biopic 42, in high def from Apple:
42 stars Harrison Ford as innovative Dodger's general manager Branch Rickey, the MLB exec who first signed Robinson to the minors and helped to bring him up to the show, and Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the color line in the big leagues. Tells the powerful story of the legendary baseball player who broke Major League Baseball's color barrier in 1947.
42 is written and directed by Oscar winning writer-filmmaker Brian Helgeland, previously of Payback, A Knight's Tale and The Order. He's most known for his writing, credited on L.A. Confidential, Conspiracy Theory, Mystic River, Man on Fire, Green Zone and Robin Hood. Warner Bros will open 42 on April 12th.

This is now the third trailer to include Jay-Z's music that would have been better without it.

I swear Jay-Z must have bought out half of Hollywood his music is showing up in too many trailers which reminds me...the great gatsby, gangster squad, and now 42? All Warner Bros films...something strange is going on all right

Even tho I HATE the sport of baseball and find it god awfully boring. I've always enjoyed baseball movies. 61*, Moneyball, League of their own, The Scout, etc. I'm sure this will be another great baseball film.

Yes. We get the song is referencing JAckie Robinson.... that doesnt make the intrusion of rap in this era any less jarring.

The Trailer is Hard, the music is Hard and Chadwick Boseman is Hard! I hope we get some angry black man (the fear of the country) in this one.
