Upstream Color

"Where would we go?" The first trailer for the Sundance 2013 selected film Upstream Color from Primer director Shane Carruth offered up some stunning imagery and really grabbed out attention. We're pretty damn excited to see the film in Park City, Utah in January when the festival kicks off, but for now we have another tease in the form of a new trailer that throws some dialogue into the mix this time. It doesn't offer anything in the vein of significant plot details, but they slapped that Sundance laurel on there pretty quickly, and this still looks like quite a provoking and powerful drama with some intense romance too. Watch below!

Here's the second teaser trailer for Shane Carruth's Upstream Color, originally from Apple:

The synopsis for Upstream Color included in the Sundance announcement states: "A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives." The cast includes Amy Seimetz, Shane Carruth, Andrew Sensenig and Thiago Martins. This was officially announced as an in-competition film to premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah this January. Distributor ERBP has also set a April 5th, 2013 theatrical release date for Upstream Color. We'll keep you updated on this as much as we can.

I loved Primer. I first saw it back in high school, and it's left quite the lasting impression. I always wondered if and when we would see the next effort from Shane Carruth. It appears he has been biding his time wisely, as this looks like a lovely follow-up. I sense a bit of a Terrence Malick vibe, which I'm more than okay with.

Ageless organism ? Immortality as a theme ? If it's anything like Primer in the level of execution, depth and complexity I'm definitely in.
