Oblivion Trailer #2

"It's time to learn the truth." Universal has finally revealed a second official trailer for Oblivion, the new sci-fi from Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, starring Tom Cruise. The first sleek trailer arrived last December, giving us a glimpse of the future world and action, this time we get to see even more of the same. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any of M83's score in this yet, which kind of sucks, but at least the effects are being finished/polished and it's looking better and better as they get closer to release. Morgan Freeman also stars, with Olga Kurylenko & Andrea Riseborough. Give this a look! Epic sci-fi in 2013.

Watch the second trailer for Joseph Kosinski's sci-fi Oblivion, from MSN UK (via The Film Stage):

Kosinski's Oblivion (also known as Horizons) stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, plus Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Zoe Bell, Andrea Riseborough, Melissa Leo and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, Jack's soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands. Kosinski has developed this for years, with a writing credit along with William Monahan. Universal Pictures currently has Oblivion scheduled to open exclusively in IMAX theaters on April 12th. See the first trailer.

i guess this looks ok however 2 major problems (for me at least). The fact that this is from the Tron director isn't a good thing, IMO. Tron was shit. Besides some oh so cool visuals, the rest was garbage. Next, Olga K. Really? Out of all the people in Hollywood you have to pick the one with zero talent? She was terrible in QOS. Pretty sure. But there are plenty of actresses who have both qualities, incl. being able to act. That said, id be lying if i would say i will pass. I did Tom's work and im curious to hear what M83 will be doing musically.

Tron wasnt that bad, it was the guys directorial debut. The movie was just so brief I felt like just when it got going, boom, it was the climax and it was over. Plus the first cycle fight with that DP score was jawdropping IMO.

Way to spoil a movie...Why this practice ? Are they really that afraid people won't come if they don't show the whole plot of the movie or are they actually right about the general public meaning the average Joe and Jane are really that dumb and they need everything handed to them on a silver platter ...trailer should intrigue and not reveal ..imo..this just kills my desire to go to the cinema since the trailer basically shows the whole story ...all that is withheld is the resolution...and we've seen this kind of a story a few times already...it's a popcorn SF so good guys win...probably...

Well in their defense, you asked if they think the average joe is that dumb....the average movie goer is kind of that dumb dude. Were all cinephiles here so of course we see through these things but you gotta realize to the average person they take everything at face value.

Honestly....this looks MEH at best. The alien/monster looking thing that attacks someone with his gun just looks terrible.

Good trailer, it represented the story a bit more coherently...the first trailer was just a little all over the place. For a directorial debut, Tron: Legacy wasn't terrible, here's hoping this will be an improvement.

This looks really good, not sure about the "Book of Eli"-vibe some people have been talking about?

David Banner on Feb 14, 2013

Not at all a Book of Eli vibe, they could just be referencing to the way Morgan Freeman is dressed, if that's the case then it does look like Book of Eli but the movie itself is totally different

Cheer up, at least Worthington is not in this. Just for a change.
